NEW CORPORATORS- NEW CORPORATION!

After a long wait, Bangalore is seeing its new elected body and 198 corporators. Alhough citizens don’t have good opinion about politicians in general and corporators in particular we have seen or heard about some really good corporators who served the city of Bangalore. Market Sanjeevappa, KM Naganna, G Narayan, TR Shamanna to name a few are personalities who readily come to our mind when we think of good corporators.

People have a grouse that they are not getting proper representatives for them. You have any suggestions, how an ideal corporator could be? How he can prove himself a tool for the development rather than becoming a stumbling block? How helpful a corporator can be when it comes to solving the civic problems of a ward in particular and the city in general? What makes a corporator with a proper vision for the city? Can you please list out your priorities in a good representative? I look forward to your suggestions.

Sir,
A corporator should appraise himself about the problems faced by people & its remedy. face to face interaction is the best way of understanding the problems. he should at least raise the issues in the general body meeting of BBMP & press for early disposal.

An ideal corporator does not loot BBMP funds along with contractors but ensures that the funds are spent for addressing the needs of people in his/her ward.

Dear Sureshji,

The corporators need to split their time between four important functions

1.Interaction and feedback from Communities in his ward-RWAs,schools,place of worship, hospitals, milk vendors, paper vendors, maids and servants, watchmen and private security, restaurants, traders, vegetable vendors, gyms, parks and lakes and slums and BANKS

2.Infrastructure in his ward-Street lights,sanitataion,Roads,Waste disposal,markets(vegetable,meat and fish)

3.Discussions and talks with bueracrats and officials-
Discuss probems, suggest solutions, fix time fram to resolve and felicitate the official for support

and
4.Discussion and talks with the party leaders, ministers and MLAs to seek funds ,raise issue with concerned departements, ministries and also central agencies .
